Appointed Board Member Information & Application

Serve on the Whatcom Conservation District Board of Supervisors

Each Conservation District in Washington is guided by a five-member Board of Supervisors made up of local residents. Click HERE to meet our current board members.

Board supervisors are either elected by the public or appointed by the Washington State Conservation Commission (WSCC). State law requires that at least two elected supervisors and one appointed supervisor be local landowners or farm operators. All board terms are three years.

Our Board plays a vital role in shaping the direction of the District. Supervisors are expected to:

  • Attend monthly board meetings

  • Develop policies and long-range priorities

  • Approve annual budgets and work plans

  • Represent the Whatcom Conservation District in the community

Board supervisors serve as volunteers and do not receive compensation.

For 2026, we are accepting applications for an appointed supervisor position on our Board.

To learn more about eligibility, requirements, and the application process, please visit the WSCC’s Local Elections & Appointments webpage, where you will find detailed information on appointed board positions.
