Conservation Stewardship Program ranking deadline set for January 21

interested in USDA’s Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) have until
January 21, 2011 to apply for this year’s funding.
Authorized in the
2008 Farm Bill, CSP offers payments to producers who maintain a high
level of conservation on their land and who agree to adopt higher levels
of stewardship. Eligible lands include cropland, pastureland, rangeland
and non-industrial, private forestland.
Applicants will compete within identified ranking pools in Washington.

As part of a larger tour of the North Sound, the WCD staff and Board welcomed a small group (14) of distinguished EPA and WSDA directors, policy makers, and administrators to Whatcom County on August 10th. These included Larry Elworth, EPA National Agricultural Councilor to the Administrator, and Dan Newhouse, Director of the Washington Dept of Ag.
